At Intel's peak, the company convinced the telco world to move workloads from bespoke systems to COTS servers based on Intel Xeon. Somehow this would liberate telcos from single-vendor dependence and reduce costs. Samsung is now looking at AMD Epyc and Nvidia Grace (!) to unshackle virtual RAN from Intel, reports Light Reading.
