Alibaba steps up data-center AI accelerator cadence

Major Chinese cloud company Alibaba, also known for its excellent Qwen models, has introduced the M890, its newest AI accelerator. Coming from its T-Head/Pingtou operation, the company also launched a switch to link 64 M890 cards. A full rack holds 128 cards. Alibaba also disclosed a multi-year chip roadmap including the next-generation V900 due in the third quarter of 2027. It promises to triple the M890's performance. [I can't find M890 performance figures, however.] A year later, in Q3 2028, it plans to launch the J900.
